Looking for an LPN program...help please??

hey all :)

I'm currently looking to enroll in an LPN program and then eventually I plan on getting my RN. Only thing is that most community colleges in my area are all booked on their PN programs and being on a wait list isnt really an option for me.

Anyway, long story short, I found a program that's still accepting apps and starts in May. The facility is called First Choice Training Institute and it's in Salem, NH. My question is: has anyone heard and/or attended that institute? It's accredited by the NH board of nursing and all that good stuff...I'm just a little skeptical since it's not really a school/college kind of place. I'd rather attend a class in Mass, but most places are all booked. I have no idea so many people were looking into nursing nowadays...any advice from experienced nurses out there???

I haven't heard of that school so hopefully others will write in but I'm still a fan of the local community colleges. The ones in my area didn't have a wait list although the competition is fierce unless your gpa is really high. What kind of grades have you gotten in your pre req classes? Good luck.

even the colleges without waitlists have fierce competition. you have to apply, and of course most people who apply to nursing programs have already taken college classes in preparation.

community colleges are your best bet, you must take pre req's and general ed classes, but that is everywhere you go.

any nursing school is competitive.

I've never heard of it (but I live in PA). However, why not check with your state board of nursing about their NCLEX pass rates? That will help you to decide if it is a program you might like to attend.

Not all practical nursing programs are found in community colleges. Here in PA, many are in vocational/technical schools. However, they all lead to the same thing; the NCLEX test and licensure.

their NCLEX pass rate is actually 61.90% and it's been around that same rate for the past 2-3 yrs. it's the lowest in the state of NH so i'm gonna assume that's not the best choice. does anyone know of any other programs, preferably in Mass, that aren't all filled up? :typing i've been doing tons of research and i'd really like to get things moving.
