Looking for feedback on my 1st draft of my personal statement...

Hello!

I am in the process of starting some of my CRNA applications and have been working on a personal statement for one of my applications. I seem to be having a hard time, more so due to the fact that the school limits length of the personal statement to 200-250 words, which has made it hard for me to fully answer the prompt provided. The Personal statement prompt is as follows:

Please provide 200-250 words that provide a statement of purpose for your application to BLANK SCHOOL of anesthesia. Include a summary of your background, education, career, professional goals, and your reason for applying to the CRNA program.

This is my ROUGH 1st Draft:

After much introspection about my plans for advanced nursing education I always seem to find my way back to nurse anesthesia. Often times it seems that a nurse chooses to advance their career in a way that pulls them further from direct patient care. However, this is not my goal. To me nurse anesthesia offers the perfect blend of advanced practice and knowledge of human physiology while continuing to allow me hands on interaction with patients. I truly feel nurse anesthesia offers me the best opportunity to continue the aspects of critical care nursing that I love while fulfilling my desire to advance my nursing career and obtain new knowledge.

Working in critical care over close to seven years has awarded me the opportunity to touch many lives. I have had triumphs and failures, which have pushed me to continually seek out ways to better myself as a clinician. This has included obtaining my critical care certification and gaining experience as charge nurse and preceptor. Over the past few years I have become more involved in orienting graduate nurses which has provided me the opportunity to not only shape the career of many nurses, but has also allowed me to continually evaluate and question the manner in which patient care is provided. Given the opportunity to complete my education in nurse anesthesia I would welcome the chance to one day be involved in the education and training of future generations of certified registered nurse anesthetists.

Any feedback is welcomed, positive or negative! I especially wouldn't mind hearing from a few SRNA's who have recently gone through the application process. I will continue to work on it regardless but hope to get some feedback.

Sorry that I do not have much productive advice to provide as I too am a hopeful future CRNA, but I just wanted to let you know that I feel as though you did a great job on your personal statement! I enjoyed some of the aspects that you included as they were not ones I previously thought of. You're going to do great - good luck!
