Hi. I am a recently graduated & licensed LPN. I graduated from a Tech school that was about an 1 1/2 hours from my house one way. The reason i did this was b/c the tech school that was closest to my house had a 2 year waiting list. The school that is near me doesnt have a waiting list for the LPN-ADN option, BUT i still wont be able to START the actual core nursing courses until Fall 2008! I wouldnt have to wait that long if i went back to the school where i got my LPN, but I honestly dont think i could go another year driving that much-it was exhausting!
My question is, should i just go ahead and do Excelsior while i am working as an LPN? I consider myself a disciplined individual who will do good at the self studying and all that, but I am worried about the cost of Excelsior. If anyone has ever done that before, could you please let me know a little about the costs and whether or not they have financial aid? Thanks!:wink2:

That's the exact reason I am doing Excelsior (just started) Check w/ your BON to make sure there's not restrictions. There are a few exams that can be taken without enrolling so you can see if it is for you before you get in too deep.

If your state allows it I would really consider it. Unfortunately my bon is no longer accepting it unless you had already started before a certain date. Good luck.

Also consider indiana state bsn program. I don't have the website in front of me, but you can google it. My sister in law did the program and is a surgical nurse making great money. She is very happy.
Thanx for all yalls replies. I'll def. have to check with my BON, b/c excelsior is sounding real good about now.
