? about Littman Stethoscopes

I have heard this is a good brand. Where is the best place to buy one? Which model do you like? I am not on a tight budget, so I can spend more if a better model/brand is available. Thanks!

I will move this to the nursing gear to get you some more answers.

I got a Cardiology III stethoscope 4 years ago and love it. I can notice a significant difference between it and cheaper stethoscopes. I have heard the electronic ones are great but I did not want to mess with batteries.

I had two Littmans in the past and honestly I hate them. There is a slight improvement in sound quality over the $20. Sprags(very slight) but the ones I've had have not been very durable and for the cost difference I would try one out from a peer before you spend the $$$. I addition the ear pieces seem to catch on everything-If I'm ever falling off a cliff I want to have my Littman with me so I can use it like a grappling hook.

When I started school the recommended stethoscope was a cheapie Prestige, it went with a kit that all the students bought. I had a lot of problems with it, and I am hard of hearing. Recently, one of my friends bought me a Littmann III Cardiology, and its great. The difference is significantly noticeable. The Cardiology III runs about $130-150, and they usually engrave it with your name, a good thing with all the students running around. It was not something I would have bought, I am a student and cannot afford a pricey stethoscope, but it was a wonderful gift, and it really helps me to hear better.....

Good luck on finding the best scope for you.
