Linfield Spring 2022

I applied to Linfield  school of nursing for Spring 2022. The acceptance is supposed to be released 10/01/2021 or earlier. I’m quite nervous as I haven’t received any emails regarding it yet. Has anyone been offered a seat or received emails? Thanks!!

I think there are 80 of us but I don’t know anyone.
I grew up in Portland but have lived all over and just moved from California a few months ago.

Which section (PA, PB, PC) did you guys choose for Spring semester?

I chose PC. What about you?

Thank you! I really appreciate that. How did you like the professors? And how was the learning environment? I heard that nursing school can be a hostile learning environment ? also, did the school provide stethoscopes or is that something we would have to purchase on our own? I haven’t heard anything regarding textbooks/supplies yet. Thanks again!

I like the professors at Linfield. Personally, I recommend Bransfield (teaches 2/3 semesters), Kintz (teaches 2/4 semesters), and Connell (teaches 3rd semester). Nursing school has not been a hostile environment at all! Everyone is so willing to help. Nurses are so nice and Spring cohorts tend to have older people because it is usually everyone's second bachelors. The school provides stethoscopes. Book list should be available soon. I recommend to rent everything in all four semesters except the following: drug guide, nursing pocket guide, apa, and med surg. You will need drug guide, nursing pocket guide, and apa for all four semesters. You will need med-surgical book for 2nd and 3rd semesters. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask!

Thanks for your advice!

What do you recommend to do between now and when we begin in February? Things to review? I am guessing we take off and it is intense from the beginning!

Thanks! Congrats on graduating!

There is nothing to review. I would just take time off! Congrats on getting into nursing school!

Hi everyone! I am getting so excited for February and so nervous! I will be brand new to Linfield so I have had some bumps along the way trying to figure everything out and just have some questions!

1st, I keep asking what the school year will look like in way of school breaks and I am not getting much back. I am used to trimesters so switching to semesters has been interesting. Does anyone know if we will be in session straight through Summer? Or will it just be Spring 2022 for this year, then Fall 2022&Spring 2023 and then Fall 2023?

2nd, I have to take out private student loans to help with rent unfortunately so I am trying to figure out exactly how much to ask for, for just Spring semester (I.e. if I should ask for enough to cover rent throughout the Summer as well). If anyone has any pointers I would appreciate it so much!!

Hi! I am looking forward to starting too!

I found this: https://www.linfield.edu/academics/academic-calendars/portland-undergraduate.html

I *think* we go until May 26th

This year it looks like they started Aug. 30-Dec. 17th, so looks like a 3 month break.

(The ABSN program goes year round--we aren't the accelerated)...

As for loans, I don't know ugh! Have you reached out to the financial aid office? They have been super helpful for me.
