License Revocation

Published

Hi there,

I am not sure if this is where i should ask my question but anyways. Back in 2009 i got into a fight with my fiancees ex and thereafter i was charged with battery and criminal recklessness(misdemeanors).

My license expired in 2010 and did not attempt to renew it and neither have I worked as a nurse even since i was charged.

I attempted to renew my license this year and i just received a revoke from my state BON.

I cant afford a lawyer to fight back and I am wondering if i will ever be able to get my license back.

Please don't respond if you will be mean about it. I screwed up and I am not proud of it

Thanks.

Joseph

Your thread has been moved to our Nursing Licensure With A Criminal History forum. Good luck with this predicament.

Can you write a letter to the board? There is probably a time frame that you have to wait at least. I read our state board of nursing newsletter every quarter and it seems like people get.suspension or probation for worse things than that.

Just don't lie or they won't reinstate

You probably don't want your real name as your screen name, either.

What reason did they give for the revocation? Is it listed as permanently revoked? In my state, a permanent revocation means just that.

When you attempted to get your license, did you report your charges?

If you are somehow able to get licensed, it may be difficult to get a job with the battery charge and not working in the field for so long.

Out of curiosity, why are you now deciding to try and renew your license?

Also: You state you were 'charged' in 2009. Surely this has worked its way through the courts by now- was there a conviction?

Not enough information to help you. What was the court's disposition? Why did the board say they revoked your license?

Unfortunately you have a couple of major hurdles to jump here. First you need to address the revocation. Find out what your steps are for filing an appeal or at the least asking for a review in your state. Even if you are successful in turning over a revocation and that is a big if as I've never personally heard of that happening then you have to find employment and with a criminal record involving violence that can be difficult at best. Sorry I can't give you better advice.
