Lice !

Published

So, I have my Associates degree in Early Childhood Education. Therefore I work in the field while I am going back to school for Nursing. I havent started school yet, just applying and getting all my things before im accepted into a program.

Anyways, so I work with children. I got lice from a 13 month year old! This happened last wednesday, they found the nits on me. So i went home did 2 treatments in one day, i know you shouldnt but what can i say i was out of my head, got ride of everything.. So i thought. Everyday until today my head has been clear.

This morning, Looks like i found 2 nits. What the heck!!!! I have been doing all the things my doctors office told me.. cleaning, vaccumming, washing everything in hot water and drying in high heat. I left that center because of other reasons.

So my doctor didnt care to see me, to make sure my mom and I are not seeing things.. just prescribed me a pill ( i forget the name, ill find out when i pick it up) that is normally prescribed for UTI's but has been found to work on getting rid of stubborn lice. So im to take that and do another treatment.

Anyone hear of this pill idea before, and is it normal for me to be going this nuts and still have it?:scrying:

Lice can be hard to get rid of and regarding medication there are a few to treat UTI's all I can suggest is talk with your doctor as per Terms of service we can not give medical advice

We dealt with this a couple of years ago. One thing you can do is smother the lice in Crisco, then wash your hair and dry it with a hair drier.

I know of two lice/nit removal services in the greater Boston area. As a school nurse in Massachusetts I have had several families choose to go this route. It is costly but they do remove all nits. If this interests you, since you live in southern NH, you might call the Nitpickers at 781-449-2283 or the Nit Wits at 617-816-9487

Removing every last nit is definitely the way to go! My daughter caught lice in grade school and her long hair was a nightmare to get nits out of. We spent so much time picking nits out of her hair after we couldn't remove all signs of lice with the treatments. You definitely need someone to pick through every bit of your hair about two times a day for a week or so to pull nits. This was the only way we were able to get rid of lice. Washing her bedding and such was secondary to this (we found). Good luck!
