Letters of recommendation

Nursing Students NP Students

Published

Hi everyone,

I am starting to apply to APRN school and I'm wondering who you think it is best to get reference letters from. I only need two and I have good rapport with the nurse director of surgical services also my manager and my clinical advisor(charge nurse). Who do you think would be best to ask???

Thanks for your help!!

Specializes in Emergency.

Some schools will be specific about what they want. Others may not. Follow the advice of the school first, if that isn't specific enough, seek out previous students and ask what worked for them.

Specializes in Primary Care.

Does the school specify what they want? The schools I applied to usually wanted at least 1 that was from a professor or academic reference. If they don't specify, I would make 1 of those letters from a professor, or someone who can speak about your academic abilities.

Specializes in Family Nurse Practitioner.

I needed 3 and the school specified 2 academic and 1 employer.

Thank you for the responses! The requirement for recommendations is this :

  • Two letters of recommendation from persons with authority to evaluate your professional ability.
