I am so excited.:yeah: But i was wondering what can I do with my diploma until I take my boards. One girl in my class is already working as a weekend nurse:eek:. Where do I begin. I really dont want to wait 2 months before I can get a job to show for my hardwork.. I know some places do allow it. Are there any recent grads or soon to be grads that have any insight??

You mean your friend is a nurse tech, right?

You need to get your GVN/GPN to work as a nurse while waiting to take your boards. I don't know what it's like in your state, but you can only work as temporary GVN for 1.) 75 days, or 2.), until you fail your first attempt at boards, whichever comes first. You should view your board website for more information - there is paperwork involved and usually takes 7-10 days to receive your temporary permit to work.

No she is the nurse. Works alone and passes out meds, does wound dressings, etc. And that's what people have told me so I guess I will have to look it up

That's interesting if your friend is able to function as a nurse completely independent without her certification. Amazing how state laws change dramatically from state to state.

I didnt think you could do this.....honestly it sort of scares me who's license does she work under if she doesnt have one of her own? I have heard of GN but never someone in school working as a nurse before they were done.

Yes, that's interesting because most places here wont allow you to function independently. You have to work with another licensed person and you can't pass out meds out. What you're basically doing is following the licensed nurse around and doing things to assist her but you can't pass out meds, chart, or do any dressing changes.

I agree with others. Maybe she is working as a GVN ???
