Yep, I have decided to leave nursing. I decided I am going to go and get my Masters in Biomedical engineering. I have been a nurse for 5 years. 4 years in Acute Care, and 1 years in sub-acute rehab. I have thought about changing to a different spectialty, but nothing interests me. I have tried to think of every possibly way to use my BSN. Im tired of stress of nursing. I tired of going home everyday crying. I tired of dreading going to work even on my days off. I don't have the spark anymore. I deserve better, most importantly my patients deserve better. I am afraid one day I will burst, and it won't end well.
Bedside nurses are over worked plain and simple. Working short staff and without a tech at night. Not to mention you are the house keeping, dietary, etc. But let's not forget the high acuity of these patients. All of you bedside nurses are amazing, and I give you so much credit. I've reached my wall though.
During nursing school I questioned myself a couple times. I loved the book work, and learning about diseases. Sometimes I didn't enjoy clinicals though. I love the knowledge of nursing. But, that's about it.
Now I need a job to do until I start my Masters. Any ideas?!?
