I'm taking my last Pre-Req in the Spring (A&P2). I have ready taken several of the classes required during the Nursing Program, like English Comp, Algebra, Communication, and Psychology. While I'm waiting to get in, I thought about knocking out Micro and maybe Human Growth & Development. I work full time so Im thinking the more things I have under my belt before entering the program, the better. I have a question, provided I can't get in the program quickly, I'm consider going the Paramedic to RN route. Has anyone else looked into that option?

Tried to fix it but couldn't

Good day, DadStudentPerhaps:
While I don't have experience to share, I just wanted to say pre congrats for nearing the end of the line before a RN program. Good job.
Thank you.

My only caution about going through paramedic school is that for the money you invest, you hardly make anything in salary (hubby was a paramedic- SO underpaid for the job they do). You could make the same amount as a CNA, and have your foot in the door in a hospital, AND see (and do) a lot of things that can help you more directly in nursing.
Good luck with the last prereq! Definitely smart to get as much general ed out of the way as possible. I'm glad I got mine all done prior to starting, so I could focus completely on my program.

I would just keep going the way that your going. Unless your already have your EMT-Basic and are enrolled in a Paramedic program it is probably not worth it since you are almost done with Pre-Reqs. I am doing the Paramedic to RN Bridge, but I have 5 years experience as a Medic. I will also be done with my Pre-Reqs in the spring. I have A&P, Micro, Pharm, and Freshman Comp 1 (long story on why I have to retake this class). As RunBabyRun stated, being a Medic is far underpaid for what we do. Even though I am making the most an hour that I have ever made by being in the ER. I made that decision because I knew I was going to bridge. The only way to make any money in EMS is to have two 48 hour jobs and that is a killer on your life. My last job I was working 72 hours a week.
Thanks everyone. I'm going to go ahead and knock out my last Pre-Req and see where I stand in regard to entering the program.
