Because no one in my household is particularly interested in hearing about my excitement..I've come here to share!
Orientation completed!!! I'll be officially on my own Wednesday :) This isn't my first job, but I'm excited anyway!! A little scared too..but I don't think that will go anywhere anytime soon!
Lets hope I survive and get home at a semi-reasonable time the first day!
Thanks for the ear

ahh, i remember being off orientation my first time. I was so nervous. they actually were in need of a nurse earlier than i was scheduled, so picked up those days. Mainly because my preceptor was still working those days...so i felt i would have someone to go to if i needed it, and someone who understood me and where i was at.
I'm sure you'll do great.

Congratulations! Best of luck! My first day off orientation was just a couple of months ago. On my first day, I transfered both my patients from ICU to the general floor. I didn't have any patients to give report on, and I left about five minutes after 7! I think they were nice to me, since it was my first day.

Congratulations! Coincidentally, yesterday was my first day off orientation too. I'm feeling a mix of fear and exhilaration about being on my own. It was nice to get my feet wet as a "real" nurse, although I realize I still have a great deal to learn. Fortunately, I have some great coworkers who are more than willing to share their expertise.
Best of luck in your nursing career.
