LACC or SMC?

U.S.A. California

Greetings! I can't seem to find any information as to which school would be ideal to complete prerequisites before transferring to CSULA, CSULB, or CSUN. I do have a Bachelor's Degree so I might even apply for UCLA's MECN.

Any input on whether I should attend LACC, SMC or any other Community College in that area?

Thank you in advance!

Most CA universities no longer have deals with community colleges for guaranteed admission, which is why you're not finding that info. Those days are long since gone. Some schools will still have preference for locals, but that's about it.

Hi! Thanks for the response! I am not looking for information on transfer agreements. I just am looking for information for which school would be better to take the prerequisites. Thanks!

There are several CA CC's that that have transfer of credits. Also, PCC, LACC, LA County and a few others have CSULA collaboration programs. These allow you to get your ADN simultaneously while doing your BSN at a CSU. COC has an RN-BSN with CSUN. If you go to CSU's website, it will explain the pathways. As far as prereqs, check with your counselor or visit assit dot org (websites not allowed so i spelled it out) to check transfer requirements. Good luck to you!

Hey there,

I graduated from UCLA in 2013 and took all of my pre-requisites at SMC. I was VERY lucky to have gotten into many classes because I did not have priority at SMC. I was not able to get into a microbiology class at SMC so I took it at West LA, which is also a good option. I would recommend SMC if you can get into their classes, but it can be difficult to get into classes! Try West LA and other schools in LACCD too. Good luck.

Thank you all for your replies! It is pretty hard to figure out which of the community colleges have better availability of classes but I'm going to assume it will be hard at any of them.
