Lab Practical

Published

I have my first lab practical for A&P 1 on Tues evening and will have the stages of Mitosis on it, is there anywhere to remember these (other than studying them) I mean sometimes you can associate them with something to remember them, thats what I am looking for. I will be studying for this heavily this weekend.

I took A&P and year ago and I still remember by thinking of seperating M&M's for my son and his friend:

Prophase: Dumping all the M&M's on the table (Nucleus is coming undone)

Metaphase: Counting all lined M&M's (Lined center of table)

Anaphase: Two kids pulling M&Ms to opposite sides (Makes A lines)

Telophase: Eating of M&M puts in sugar coma (Membrane comes down)

Interphase: Sugar High, eyes wide open and run around (Nucleus formed & cell seperate)

I hope this helps a little, don't really know if it works for anyone else but anything is worth a try!

Good luck!

Now that is cute! I wished you were here last semester when I had to remember that stuff

On our lab prac the instructors never asked about Interphase. However, all the others were mentioned in some form or another.

I have always remembered it this way. May help for you...maybe not.

PMAT

Prophase - mass of chromosomes in the center of the cell

Metaphase - chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell

Anaphase - chromosomes pull apart

Telophase - almost two cells

Knowing the order of mitosis is key!

All I know is PMAT & Meta/Middle.

Shows how well I learned it. LOL! Actually for my A&P, we weren't tested over it. So, I didn't stress learning it again. I learned it years & years ago.

I did print out pictures & glued them to index cards to quiz myself. (...Which I ended up not needing.) :clown:

Good luck!!!!!

*Also, find as many pics online as you can. The more you see, the better you can identify the variations of the same phase, etc. :)

Google pictures and just keep identifying the different stages. I otherwise used and still use PMAT
