WOW! Sucks, sorry. Hopefully you will get your extension. There must be someone you can talk to, functional, recruiter, someone?? Not sure who,sorry. With the shortage of nurses you just have to make the right person aware and they will realize you should not go to Korea. OR... on the postive note, you will only be in Korea a year, yes? Study for the NCLEX, don't wait too long. Take it on midtour, get all your applicaton paperwork in and right after Korea will be your first assignment as a nurse. Or maybe even they would cut your Korea tour short??? Maybe? Just keep talking to everyone and anyone, eventually the right person will catch on.

Thanks. I have thought about all of that but I just don't want the NCLEX looming over my head for so long. On a better note I went on the pearson vue website and i read that you can turn in your paperwork 3 months before you graduate. That would be great so as soon as I graduate and they get the required info maybe I can squeeze in there and take it before I leave.

I am still going to apply this coming December for the nurse corps maybe I will get selected while I am in Korea and like you said my next stop will be COT. And while I am over there I can get rid of the extra "nursing school" weight that I put on

Definitely request an RNLTD extension... as a personnelist (wanting to go to nursing school) I've seen a ton of these get approved lately. Korea is harder because of the high turnover but it can still happen.

In my program we are told that we have to wait until 8 weeks after graduation until we could sit for NCLEX. If I can turn it in sooner that would help. However, I don't know how I could turn it in sooner since I won't be done with my nursing classes.

I can't remember which site I saw it on. It was either my state bon or the pearson vue I'm sorry I don't remember.

Just wanted to wish you luck. We were stationed at Yongsan from 88 to 90 and I worked at the 121 Evac Hosp - made famous in the MASH tv series. Hubby was the station superintendent at AFKN. Take care.
