Specializes in School Nursing.

First some backround...

I am an LVN (3rd year here) who works 7-12th grades. I am here daily 8am-4pm M-F, and work in the Health Office only.

I have an RN school nurse for the District about (4) schools. Just started last year. Works 1/2 day at my site and 1/2 at elem only 1 day a week.

The Health Aide works at the elementary school only part-time. Been here 12 years.

At first I was grateful that a Health aide would be able to show me everything and help me transition into the school. Of course now its been 3 years, And I run my office a little bit differently than she taught me.

I do my job as best to be expected with given conditions. (We are horribly under staffed).

The health aide attacked me my first year. She wanted me to perform something out of my scope, and I refused. She threw a huge fit, and in the end I prevailed by calling the state Dept RN and having her email the school a list of my scope for everyone to look at. Case closed....not exactly

So this week I start get emails about Trainings. I DO NOT DO the trainings. It is an RN (school nurse) function. But no, she has to argue with me that it is my job to know all the trained staff, and when they are to expire and yada yada yada. Guess what...The health Aide is the 1 who trains staff in CPR!!!

Specializes in Hospice.

I think she knows perfectly well what her job is. She's just hoping that you don't, and will just do whatever is thrown at you.

Stick to your guns, OP, you are doing the right thing.
