I was in my foundations class the other day and we watched a video on the qualities that make a good nurse. it reminded me of some of the reasons why I am trying to get my nursing degree in the first place. For those of you in upper level nursing classes What are some of the things that keep you guys going. What keeps you going when school gets really difficult.

I don't have a backup plan if I fail RN school, and it's what will allow me to move out of my hometown and really start my life. So that's what keeps me going. 3 more months to go.

It's the fact that I will have a job and a good stable living (and depending who you meet, also a respectable job) that keeps me going. But I understand what you mean about having to just "push forward" and "force" yourself. Nursing school is rough and competitive, extremely draining on your body, mind, spirit, and bank account. Not only that, but that lack of time you have for friends, and for yourself. At hard times like this, I tell myself that it will be worth it when I have that BSN in my hands, and while all my other friends are partying in college, we'll be the one's working right out of college!

Not in classes RN right now, graduated about this time last year. What kept me going was the fact that I knew the stress of nursing school was temporary. Yes I have stress now, but not the same. Temporary frustration and now I have a great well paying career. Keep on chugging...

Hard work now has a huge payoff later. I think the big thing is that I've already been through school once and found it so difficult to find a job in the field I was in before. This is my second chance. Also REALLY want to be able to buy a house soon, ha.
This site helps too. Communicating with other nursing students and nurses keeps me passionate. I don't know a ton of nurses irl so it's awesome to have contact with so many different kinds of nurses that do so many different things, and a lot of subjects are brought up that make me think and look forward to dealing with them as a nurse.

Pain is temporary, but nursing school hasn't been that bad. It can be extremely stressful at times but I know there is always light at the end of the tunnel. Plus I've made it this far (graduate in 3 months) no turning back now.

One foot in front of the other, one day at a time, one assignment (or three) at a time, big picture.. all those little sayings. It becomes your way of life. You know it will be worth it so you just do it. Nine weeks to go for me til graduation, and I can't wait.
