I was wondering if any of you purchased this pricey item, and if you did do you think it helped? I'd really like to find out if it is worth the $400.

This is the honest truth: 4 people (myself included) have taken Kaplan and all of us failed NCLEX on our second attempt. I can also honestly say that I could have spent a little more time getting the content down, like for things such as Addison's disease, etc. 3 of us took the Kaplan online course, and 1 person was at the live site. But, I have heard others singing the praises of Kaplan. I have the Saunders Comprehensive Review for NCLEX-RN 2nd edition. It's by Linda Anne Silvestri. It's a light green book. It comes with a CD w/LOTS of questions. The book has 75 chapters (Kaplan book that came with my online course has 7 chapters). This book goes through fundamentals, etc. At the back of the book, there's a 300 question exam to take. I have had this book for some time. I didn't use it to study for NCLEX though, because you see, I'm a bit of an idiot :) I am using it now though. The chapters are relatively short, but there are some that are LONG, not too many though. All in all, it seems like it's a good book. I have never read a poor review about it either. I can't say the same for Kaplan.

located in the nclex discussion forum. there are a few located at the top...check out tips for nclex pliz.... :wink2: . it may be easier to just post your nclex questions there so that everyone else with the same questions could read the info without starting numerous of similar threads.

good luck to you & congrats on your accomplishments ~ cheers!

You really can't compare Kaplan to Saunders, imo. Kaplan is different than any other book in that it teaches you HOW to answer the questions. I found Saunders to be awesome for the content review, but Kaplan was invaluable in teaching me to read and answer a question properly.
