Hey guys getting ready to take the NCLEX soon just started doing the Kaplan online and now im scared! Is it just me or are the questions in Q bank difficult to apply the Kaplan rules for NCLEX? Plus there are tons of topics that I have no clue about! I scored a 61 on my diagnostic but now im scared!

Yes I feel the same way, you cannot apply all of the strategies for most of the questions. Knowledge of content is very important. But not to worry, that's what this course if for...to learn how to answer difficult questions. Kaplan's course questions(QT and Qbank) are the most difficult one's I've come across personally and I've viewed quite a few nclex books/cd's along this nursing journey. Stay calm, do the questions and read ALL of the rationales. Most people feel that the questions are tough, they are designed that way to prepare us.:)

yes I feel that way too. The strategies work to a degree- I just think the volume of HARD questions they give you to practice on is what boosts your confidence. not necessarily the strategies, although my kaplan instructor begs to differ!

I hear you! I scored a 68 on Diagnostic and 68 on Readiness (so exactly what did I pay $400 for?!), and on Qbank and QTrainers I'm in the upper 50's to lower 60's. I don't think the strategy works for 75% of the questions, which really irritiates me. But hey, I'll either pass on the 8th or get my money back. lol

I am taking my NCLEX-RN on the 8th, and Kaplan has me worried too!!!
I am not doing well on the QTs:
QT1: 64%
QT2: 66%
QT3: 58%
QT4: 58%
QT5: 55%
And on the Qbank I have 52% done and have a score of 56%.
I think it might be stress. My boyfriend and I just broke up 3 days ago (right before QT3). I might have a job, which is hinging on the passing of the NCLEX and I definitely won't get the job if I don't pass. I can't find a quiet place to do questions and people kept talking to me while I was doing them. . . .
Anyway the decision tree doesn't work on most of the questions, but when it does work it works SO well!
The one thing Kaplan did really help me with was learning how to do the prioritization questions. I always got those wrong in the past. But they have so many questions on stuff I don't know, meds I've never heard of, etc! It worries me.
I think I've got an ulcer.

ya know...
the first couple of tests that i did..i did horribly...low 50s...even high 40s...
the biggest thing i noticed when tackling kaplan is the typical "assess before u implement"...and maslow...those are the only things i really focused on taking the nclex...i didnt reword things or do most of the other tips.....
and imho, you have to know some material too
i referred to saunders a lot for content that i did not get with kaplan
i did the qbanks 2-3x 2 weeks before my exam...and passed with 75
