Hi! just another confused new grad aiming to pass the exam ASAP! But how can I pass when I don't even know where to start!!! So yeah, I'm planning to take Kaplan for test prep but they have a bunch of programs! Can someone please enlighten me on what is better, or the best thing to do with Kaplan? PLEASE!!!! HELP!!!! ME!!!!! :)
a. DO SELF REVIEW WITH KAPLAN BOOKS ( if so, does it matter if i use a 2007 edition book?)
b. TAKE THE ON-DEMAND PROGRAM (online, on your own)
c. TAKE THE CLASSROOM ANYWHERE (again online, but you have to like, get up, and go with the live streaming etc.)
d. TAKE THE IN-CLASSROOM PROGRAM (8days, if so, will they be discussing content or just test taking strategies?)
LAST QUESTION: Do I really have to read a book from cover to cover? Coz some people I know, who already passed, suggest that they just focused on the practice questions... UGHHHHHHH.
THANKS IN ADVANCE! :redpinkhe

hi pinayRN here. Ill be taking mine on june 22nd. Im currently taking Kaplan on demand, finished reading saunders and lacharity. So those are my resources now. Read the other posts about the Kaplan to get some ideas but for me, It helps me alot to answer questions. Prctice and practice answering questions and reviewing its rationale. :) When are you going to take your exam? Hope for the best Kababayan RN! :)

I didn't take any sort of Kaplan course.
Instead, I accidentally stumbled upon the question trainers online (just type in "NCLEX question trainer" on Google) and did their practice exams. And I did other practice tests. I had notebooks full of rationales from the questions and went over them... AND LAB VALUES. I passed the NCLEX.

Depends what type of student you are...But Kaplan in my opinion is the BEST, and of course, the cost reflects that..But it's so worth it. The questions are so similar to NCLEX...I only had the Q bank, tested today, got 75 ?'s and the good "pop up." I would stay away from reading cover to cover anything...Just do questions, not more than about 100-150 per day TOPS and make sure you look at rationales for stuff you got wrong. If you were a decent student and know your stuff stay away from the reading and focus on questions. Know labs, infection control, delegation and prioritization in and out...And you will be fine!

Start with self study because in the end you have to study, yourself, any way you look at it.

I would pick letter D. They will discuss test taking strategy in 8 days, which is very useful. They will also discuss content, but it will be thru online videos.
I also recommend you to use Lacharity to enhance your Priritization and delagation knowledge.
Its up to if you want to read cover to cover or not, if you are already feeling confident with your knowledge. As long as you Answer questions everyday. Kaplan Questions are almost the same with the actual NCLEX exam.
Good luck! you can do it kababayan :) Dont forget to Pray! :)
WOW! thanks for all your replies.. With everything you suggested, I'd take the kaplan book then do the online q trainer. I will probably focus only on the imp. contents (info which i think will be in the exam! hope i think right! haha) and not cover to cover.. plus lots of practice questions online!!! please pray for me! I wish everything will go well and perfect! thanks again to everyone, especially to my kababayans!!! :)
