Just stressing..

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hey everybody my name is Gracia (sounds like Grayshuh) I just really wanted to talk to some other nurses for some advice or feedback or reassurance.. Whatever really I am just kind of stressed and over thinking things.

Ok first off I graduated and lpn program in December of 2007 and took and passed NCLEX in april 08. The problem of worry on my part is I haven't worked since... The reason being that my husband in in the military and we have moved 3 times sinc then and only had one car once we actually got to our more permanent location. Well now I am going through the process of getting licensed through endorsement here in GA (I was licensed in Iowa) actually sending in my application tomorrow. I am worried they wont even let me be licensed here b/c I haven't worked and graduated so long ago.. Then I am worried b/c I feel like I forget everything from nursing school and wonder why anyone would want to hire me?? ugh..

Is there anyone out there who had been out of practice for oh 16 months who has advice for me?

Also anyone who had done licensure by endorsement who has insight for me on wether the out of practice thing will be a big issue for me?

Another question for those who have done licensure by endorsement. My state offers the NURSYS verification. Does that mean I don't have to mail out that verification sheet that is in my application. I am a little confused by that and well everything lol.. Just trying to get through all of this and I hope and I pray it works out and I can get a nursing job and go back to school for my RN.

Thank you in advance to anyone who responds. Any response will be greatly appreciated!

God Bless!

Hello Gracia,

just now read this. I salute you and your husband. Thank you for what you do.

About twelve years ago, I had major burn out and quit nursing for almost a year. Worked in a factory, br(e)aking stuff :D(press brake). Going back into nursing was no problem at all. I think you'll do fine. Best wishes

I quit nursing 3.5 years ago due to burn out and needed a break Ive kept my ceu's and license up, and am thinking about returning part-time, In LTC, ( as I worked before) I was wondering if anyone has advice on what to say why I took a break, do I give details or what? I also went through Breast cancer ( stage 2) in 2004 ( chemo ect..) and lost 3 immediate family members in my last MONTH of nursing , It was a lot! But now I feel I'm up to the task again, any advice to give me.? Thanks

i was in ltc setting for over 7 years. got frustrated and burned out at the situation and decided i was never going back. over 2 years later i finally figured out .... i really do want to be a nurse. my liscense had expired. had to go through a few hoops to get it back. liscensure by endorsement and then quite a few ceu's. i didnt mind the ceu requirement so much. looked at it as a learning expierence that i really should have kept up with better. i am liscensed again and just began working in a ltc facility. so far everything has come flying back. including dealing with the demanding patients and family and time management. have a lot to learn about my new facility. each day is new and exciting at this point. im so glad i listened to my heart and went back. btw.... family member said you are good at this you seem to understand what mom wants and needs.... that made me feel good as the daughter can be a major pain at times......... kill them with kindness..... its a revenge of sorts..... its hard to be mean to you if you can be overly nice and sympathic.
