  1. I used exam cram. I went through the entire book and that plus some of my school books is all I used. I passed first try.
  2. Well everything went great! I was probably overly prepared but it all worked out and I am very excited:) Everyone is soooo friendly and helpful! I have a nice wing with only 24 residents so that sounds really nice compared to some people having 30-40 that I have heard of. Anyway thank you for all of the answers to my post!
  3. Thank you so much! That helps to ease my nerves tremendously:D:D I will make sure I feel confident before they send me out on my own! Thanks again! God Bless!
  4. OK so I just got a job at a LTC facility. This will be my first job as a nurse since graduating so I don't know what to expect (LPN by the way). Anyway they just told me what time to be there and street clothes would be fine. I am just curious what I will be doing. Will it pretty much just be filling out paper work? Should I bring anything with me? I was thinking at least a notebook and pen just in case they give me info but other then that I don't know. Thanks in advance!
  5. Well.. I got the job!! =D I didn't have to call cause she called me today and offered me the job! I am so excited and nervous!! I go in tomorrow at 7am to start orientation:) Any tips for a new not so recent grad LPN starting in LTC??
  6. Thank you for the replies. I did not call yet:( I guess I am a little nervous.. I will call her on Monday and just let her know I am still interested. Is it to late to send a thank you card? I am new to all of this. Also quick question. There is a mental health hospital that is hiring new LPN's I just sent my resume in there. Can anyone tell me which would be better experience LTC or Mental Health Hospital. I have experience working a med manager and residential aid with MI and MR residents and I enjoyed that quite a bit. Well thank you again and I will let ya'll know what happens when I call on Monday:)
  7. Hey! I graduated from and lpn program dec of 07 and passed NCLEX in Iowa April of 2008 on my first try. I am now living in GA b/c my DH is in the army and I had to move about three times in the last year so we are settled and I finally have my own transportation and my GA nursing license. Ok that was just to let ya know why I haven't worked yet lol:) Anyway so Monday I went in to turn my resume into a nursing home I dressed professionaly just in case. I got an interview on the spot and it went pretty well. The DON was very sweet and told me she had no problem hiring a new grad b/c she knew everyone had to start somewhere. It seemed like it went will and she said she was going to call my reference and do a background check and that she would be calling me. I of course am getting anxious cause my references have said they haven't heard anything but I am trying to remain hopeful but don't want to get to excited or anything. It isn't my dream to work in a nursing home but I figure it will get me experience and the schools around here require you to have a year of experience before they let you in the RN program.. Well talk to you all later:)
  8. Hey I am in a very similar situation. I graduated LPN December 2007 and passed NCLEX April 2008. I have not worked yet due to my husband being in the army and I moved 3 times between then and now. We are now settled and I still haven't gotten a job b/c I had no car and I had to wait on getting licensure by endorsement. I have applied many places cause I just got my licensure last week. I have experience as a CNA and Medication Manager. I am scared nobody will want to hire me. I am sorry and I hope you find something soon!
  9. Hey I just thought I would say good luck! I remember how scared I was before I took mine. Just try to relax and breath while taking the test. As for medications well to me it is kind of hard to know what it is for unless you know but you can look at the root words and sometimes that helps. I don't know that was my weakness too but I passed and I even had all the questions which scared me a lot. I was sure I failed. Good luck again I know this wasn't much help for you but still. Let us know how it goes!
  10. Thank you so much for your responses! I think I just need some reassurance right now that I can do this cause I am pretty scared. I did contact the Georgia BON and the lady that I talked to told me to write a letter to include with my application for endorsement explaining why I had not worked as a nurse since graduating. There was also something in the rules stating that if you had been licensed within the last year that was acceptable to. I am still nervous though. I am seriously thinking about applying at the base hospital cause from what I understand I can practice there with my Iowa license so that probably would be a good idea. Thank you again for your responses they are helpful to me! I really do need to put my trust in God and know he will get me through it. He was with me in nursing school and would not have let me pass if he didn't think I could do it:) God Bless, Gracia Marie
  11. Hey I just needed to put this out there and get some feedback. Not sure this is the right place to even post this.. Just kind of venting or whatever. Ok so I graduated from a PN program in December of 07 and took and passed boards April of 08. The problem is I haven't worked since. My husband is in the Army and we have had to relocate 3 different times and were unsure of how long we would be at each place. We are now settled to our permanent duty station for at least the next three years (probably longer though). So I am now working on getting my licensure by endorsement from Iowa to Georgia. I am worried about getting a job though. I am scared no one will want to hire me since I have been out of school for so long. I am also worried about actually getting a job b/c I feel like I remember nothing... ugh.. Does anyone have any advice on refreshing my skills? I know I can read my books for the knowledge but I am worried about the actual skills. I always loved clinicals in school and was told by others how well I did however that is when things were fresh in my mind. I am so nervous about getting back into it and looking like an idiot! I also plan on going back for my RN as soon as possible so depending on wait list and requirements I am hoping this fall. Anyway thank you in advance to anyone who responds! God Bless! Gracia Marie (sounds like grayshuh)
  12. Hey everybody my name is Gracia (sounds like Grayshuh) I just really wanted to talk to some other nurses for some advice or feedback or reassurance.. Whatever really I am just kind of stressed and over thinking things. Ok first off I graduated and lpn program in December of 2007 and took and passed NCLEX in april 08. The problem of worry on my part is I haven't worked since... The reason being that my husband in in the military and we have moved 3 times sinc then and only had one car once we actually got to our more permanent location. Well now I am going through the process of getting licensed through endorsement here in GA (I was licensed in Iowa) actually sending in my application tomorrow. I am worried they wont even let me be licensed here b/c I haven't worked and graduated so long ago.. Then I am worried b/c I feel like I forget everything from nursing school and wonder why anyone would want to hire me?? ugh.. Is there anyone out there who had been out of practice for oh 16 months who has advice for me? Also anyone who had done licensure by endorsement who has insight for me on wether the out of practice thing will be a big issue for me? Another question for those who have done licensure by endorsement. My state offers the NURSYS verification. Does that mean I don't have to mail out that verification sheet that is in my application. I am a little confused by that and well everything lol.. Just trying to get through all of this and I hope and I pray it works out and I can get a nursing job and go back to school for my RN. Thank you in advance to anyone who responds. Any response will be greatly appreciated! God Bless! Gracia Marie
  13. I used exam cram..Very easy to read and the questions are good. I also did questions from Saunders though b/c I liked how they had rationale and strategy. I passed my boards NCLEX-PN.
  14. I just registered here and wanted to share with everyone. I took NCLEX-PN on Saturday and was so sure I failed! I took all 205 questions and was so bummed...Luckily we have the quick results where I am and I just found out like 30 minutes ago that I passed!! I am still shaking!! God is sooooooo Good!! Now I can start looking for a job!
