  1. I'm taking boards tomorrow and I am somewhat confident(mostly scared). It's the questions that I have no knowledge of that are hard to answer. I am trying to find clues in the questions and sometimes I get it but other times I don't. The main topic/weakness is pharmacology, how do I pick the correct answer if I don't know anything about the drug? :plsebeg:
  2. Just glancing at the responses appear positive (right?). I'm also looking for real flexibility at this point, so I'll propably will go with them. Thanks for the direction.
  3. I'm about to take my LPN boards. However, I want to immediately turn around and start on my RN education while I work. I have to work because I've spent two years already in two LPN programs (failing the final, death in the family, etc.) and the bills have piled up. I live in Georgia and it's competitive to get into any RN program here. I don't test well but I really want to start my RN education asap. Along comes Indiana State RN program online. I am going to take their LPN to BSN track. I already have most of their prerequisites done(I took those while trying to get into a regular RN program) and I currently hold a BA in another discipline. I've been told I can pick my own clinical preceptor and my current job can be my clinical site (as long as I don't do it in the area where I work and I don't get paid for it). I will be licensed in Indiana as a RN when I pass the NCLEX and I will have to transfer that license to Georgia. Who out there has used this program and is it really worth the money than going to a traditional brick and mortar school? I have taken online course before and I have the discipline for them but I am going into uncharted waters with this one. I have until June to decide before the other schools close the door for accepting RN students. I don't want to miss the boat on something real as opposed to a fantasy. I really need some advice before taking the plunge with an online university program. If anyone can let me know If I am making a mistake by going with Indiana or should I wait until a credited Georgia school accepts me. I hate the way Georgia has set up to becoming a RN, I can't even choose other states to get licensed in when I take the NCLEX here. I'm bummed!
  4. Thank you all for your encouragement!! Most of the LPN programs here in Gerogia are very inflexible and students are cramming in 1 years worth of info a RN learns in a year and a half to two years. LPN's are taught the basics and when a LPN graduates, they have to hit the ground running. I just wish there were some more flexibility here. However, I will climbe over or go around this wall. I'm already a tech at a major hospital but they don't pay well so I will try to find extra work in a doctor's office or dialysis clinic during my down time. I hate nursing homes, they over work their techs. I think I will try for a RN school as well and see what happens. My LPN experience should make it easier if I get accepted. I don't know God's master plan for me, but I will have faith, continue and follow his will no matter where it leads me. Again, thank you everyone for your support and encouragement. GA65
  5. This is my first post and sadly it's not as a certified nurse. I was dropped from my LPN program for failing one test which gave an average below 70. The administration changed the graduation criteria effectively this quarter. I passed with a "B" last quarter. Last quarter, if you failed a test you could take it again and pass with no higher than with a 70. This quarter, that rule was thrown out. I wasn't worried because I passed my first test with a 80. But four weeks into the semester, I had two family members become ill and go into hospital. I couldn't study, come Monday I bluntly told my instructor I will fail this test because of my situation. She said don't worry about, you'll pass. It didn't happen. I went to clinicals the next day and my instructor called me to tell me I fell below that 70 mark and had to drop out of the program and I was to leave the clinical site immediately. I felt world crashing in, what was I to do? The instructor didn't show any flexibility nor did she guarantee me a space in the next class which is 6 months away. I have a mortgage to pay, kids to raise and I sacrificed time and money to do nursing. I could appeal but that will take time and I could sue but that's time consuming too. Is there anyone out there with legal advice on what to do? I really want to just finish what I started and take my boards. I know I can pass. Someone, anyone please help --- point me in the right direction.
