Just as important but less intensed?

Published

Hey you guys! Just wondering your thoughts on going to school for LPN vs. RN. Are the LPN classes less intense than RN? For those who have completed both programs, what were your experiences and circumstances. What might be the most difficult and best times for you? Any and all info is warranted. Nursing has always been my heart so I want to do my best. I have chosen to complete LPN then transition to BSN so I'll be able to receive a paycheck while completing the BSN program (once i get there).

I completed an LVN program in 2005 and an LPN-to-RN completion program in 2010. In my personal experience, the RN program was significantly easier than the LVN program.

It was probably only easier because you already had nursing exposure in your LVN program.

Yes, this is a very real possibility. Much of the material was rather redundant.

Yes, it's all relative. LVN is the best prep for an RN program. I had a hard time in comparison to students who were already LVN in out BSN program. It was such a struggle for me but I survived.

So true! RN school was very easy, it was a repeat of LVN school but slightly more in depth. Clinicals were a joke because we did a lot of CNA work like as in LVN school. The only "RN" thing I did in RN school was hang a couple piggybacks!
