just failed the nclex first time around..

I’m glad to hear you still have a positive attitude about staying motivated for your next exam. I know exactly how you feel. Third time was the charm for me! I suggest you study at least 6-8 hours daily if you are retaking in 45 days. The last 2 weeks I really hit it hard and probably studied the majority of the day. Seems like a lot I know, but it paid off. I never studied that much for my first two exams. I would practice tests ranging everywhere from 75-265 questions. REVIEW every single rationale, why it was right and why it was wrong. I feel like reading the rationales is what really helped me. If there is something you feel you don’t understand when you read the rationales then look it up and read about it until you understand it. Keep doing question after question, then review. I took Kaplan the last go around and passed. I honestly didn’t read my book I only referred back to it. I concentrated more on completing the questions and reviewing each one. At least you will know what to expect next time and if you feel confident you will do just fine.

Hi lucky143, i just wanna ask you does kaplan really help you to answer questions? im currently reviewing the rationales in each questions and will be taking next week. How was your question trainers before? Thank you! :)

I had 80 questions and passed. I had a crapload of select-all-that-apply questions, too. Oh, and know your lab values.

I feel like all those reviews (kaplan, hurst and etc.) are just waste of time and money. I found out yesterday that I passed my nclex with 75 questions. All I used is Saunders (latest edition) and studied it for at least 12 hours per day X 10 days before I took my nclex. Also, I used Kaplan on demand but it seemed useless but had to use it since I bought it. So, I would just advice you to grab Saunders book and just study study and study for 2-3 weeks and then 1 week just do questions purely. Good luck!

@carvit3308---keep your head up I also failed last week! you are not alone! i'll be retaking my exam around the same time you are too so I read its good to figure out the pace you read when you are tackling these books and set mini-goals for each day and X amount of questions to do. (at least 100).

Thank you so much everyone I greatly appreticiate all ur feedback, I have an interview for care partner today so I can at least be in the hospital and get first dibs on the jobs for internals only. Wish me luck thanks again u guys are great
