I keep reading about the lack of jobs here in the States for new grads. How is it in Canada, UK, Phillipines, Australia, and any other country that is reading. As my title states, I'm just curious......

I'm in Newfoundland, Canada and they are crying out for RN's here! Not so many jobs for LPN's. They have signing bonuses and travel reimbursements. 90% of the jobs are full time float positions but I happen to like floating. We have 3 nursing programs here in the province, all BN (similar to BSN except our University has it's own Nursing Faculty not as a part of the science faculty). About 10 years ago they phased out the RN programs (like ADN programs in the US) and collaborated all the programs into the University here. We are only a small province (just over 500,000 I think) but we graduate 250 grads a year. The nursing shortage is r/t the age of our nurses. A huge percentage of RN's here are retiring. Also, many of our grads leave the province when they graduate. We are almost all unionized and recently negotiated a pretty good contract from our government at the last minute (about 3 hrs before our strike was about to start!) Our healthcare system has 5000 nursing positions and only 4000 of them are filled. We are 1000 RN's short! It's very different from the situation in the US!
For those new grads looking for a job, I wonder how hard it is to license in Canada from US. If I didn't have family obligations, I might try it myself.....Hey all you new grads, consider this!

I'm curious too about how easy it is to transfer from the US to Canada with an RN.
Here are some of the websites for the the Associations and Colleges of Nursing (same as BON in the us)

Well, depends on where you want to work. Canada is a big county! After you have decided on what province that you want to work in you have to write the CRNE. There is lot of info already in the "International Forum" https://allnurses.com/forums/f108/internationally-educated-nurses-very-important-read-first-323075.html

hi guys i have been in Australia for a year now and they are still looking for nurses in the cities and also in the countryside I did a 3 month rural placement which was amazing and terrifying at the same time. West of the hospital catchment area was Royal Flying Doctor Service area which shows how remote i was. I had no trouble in getting sponsored in a job I was offered in a hospital in Sydney where i did a lot of agency work, the rural hospital offered me as well (also they were trying to get me to marry one of the shearers lol:chuckle) but i wanted to work in a big hospital to further my education and i simply emailed the international recruitment dept and had a job offer 2 weeks later and sponsorship in a further 2 weeks :)
In Ireland however they are not renewing contracts for some of last years grads and I have heard that this years grads have no work at all. I even looked on the HSE website (public health service) for nursing jobs and there is not a single one in the whole republic of ireland. Usually there is a few theatres and aged care jobs going but nada!!
