Just applied for LPN program

Took the TEAS, Compass, and put in my request for prior learning for the STNA class. Went to advising and was told I could apply for the LPN program! Literally JUST applied, all of this within 4 hours. I am very overwhelmed but very happy for myself at the same time. Applied for summer '16 start. Time to play the waiting game! [emoji5]️

Good luck to you! :)

By the way, my experience as an LPN has been the foundation of my entire nursing career. The LPN is a valid nursing role in its own right.

Thank you! And yes, your responses to others' posts has definitely encouraged me. I have gotten real life advice to not go the LPN route but I strongly believe it's the best route for me :)

I've been told that as well. Some people think its a waste of time but I see it as an opportunity to make good money while I advance my education. Not everyone stays an LPN, not saying anything bad about those that do, but you can always be an RN later. I'm proud to be a future LPN.

Good luck!!! I too am supposed to start summer 2016 for my RN bridge clinicals but I won't find out if I get until till May. Not sure why I have to wait so long but this is three years in the making so it's literally killing me. I need to know like yesterday lol. I applied three weeks ago and I swear to god it's like when your pregnant and time passes SO slow.

I am so appreciative of my LPN career and have never regretted doing it before RN. RN school has been so much more smooth this time around as compared to LPN school because I am familiar with everything. It's second nature now so I am not having to try to figure out how to study, what to study, etc. I have made good money and right now the fact that I can work PRN allows me to avoid daycare and focus on my RN studies. It isn't the best route for everyone but for some, it makes sense.

This is exactly my rationale. I don't have the desire to wait 2-4 years to finally make a decent wage and I also don't have the desire to be a nurse aide for another 2-4 years.

Thank you!!! Good luck to you to! I'm fairly certain I'll get in because there is no wait list and I meet all the requirements, however I am still feeling the pain of actually getting an acceptance letter. I have also figured it'd be a better transition when I bridge to RN because I won't just be thrown into the water. I enjoy reading your responses and love knowing that you're in Ohio and going the same route I plan on going

Thanks!! Are you in Ohio as well? If so, I will pm you the school I go to if your would like. It's one of the few actual bridge programs for LPNs. You are never mixed with traditional students. Its not as widely known about it either so competition isn't as harsh.

Yes, please [emoji5]️

Couldn't agree w/ you more! I would love to take two years or more off to pursue an adn or bsn program but, unfortunately.. I don't have the luxury to do so.. I'm a mother of three, pay tuition, car note, rent, all my own bills.. Etc. Doing the LPN program is feasible for me at this time. Once I graduate & obtain expierience, I can find that wonderful job that will aid in financing the continuance of my educationI do intend to further my education & becoming an LPN is no time wasted in my eyes. I'm getting educated in the interim, becoming an LPN & working, making $$ & ultimately paving the way & opening the doors into all my future nursing endeavors..nothing comes easy but if you want it enough & it's in the Good Lord's will.. Ha..! Sky's the limit!
