Just accepted into PN program but have Questions

Hello,

I just recently found out I was accepted into the PN program at school, and that I'll have to do a physical exam. I don't mind doing a physical and my vaccinations, but I do have a question. Part of my physical is to have a hearing test. I know I have some hearing issues, but it's never been major enough to affect my jobs, besides an occasional "Can you please repeat that?" I've worked so hard to get into my school's nursing program and I fear being disqualified for this reason. Can I be disqualified for this?

Thanks!

You'll be fine! I've done my actual physical and I actually have a hearing aid from hearing that I lost in the Marine Corps. You'll be fine!

Thank you so much for your reply! I feel much better! :)

(BTW, I have a lot of family and friends in, or were in, the USMC! Thanks for your service :) )

I wouldn't think it'd DQ you. Only way to know for sure is to ask, though.

My physical exam was a waste of money.

The PA came in, check my the sound of my lungs/heart asked me to show her my range of motion and left the room. Done within 1-2 minutes. Waste of $50, but it was required..

All the hearing test is is the nurse across the exam room saying a word like 'hamburger' and making sure you heard her.

You will be fine... I have hearing loss in both ears. They will probably want to make sure that you can hear blood pressure, heart and lung sounds...have a really good stethoscope! Whenever I have trouble hearing or I think I may be hearing something abnormal I turn distractions off such at TV etc...I have a Litmann stethoscope that picks up really well...
