That's great but is a job in nursing informatics sustainable? Are you working in the field? From what I've read it sounds like it will be a short term gig for a lot of nurses on a contract basis and after it is over they will end up needed a lot less regular staff. Am I wrong on this? Curious re your opinion and what you've seen in this field?

It is great that the leader of the ONC is recognizing that nurses have a stake in IT and has called one of our own to the table. Congratulations to Ms. Murphy. Her appointment should elevate the status and recognition of nursing informatics and give credence to those who enter nursing informatics that this area of practice is indeed valid and necessary.
"Sustainable" Myself and several thousand have been practicing in the specialty for over 20 years. "Contract basis" doing what?
