Hello everyone, I thought I would start a thread for those of us applying to John Tyler Community College for the 2017 Fall semester starting in August! Everyone needs support, reassurance, tips, guidance or just a listening ear from time to time. And I feel this would be a great way to reach out to others on the same path. So have you completed your pre-reqs or are you taking them in the spring? Have you taken the TEAS? Which track are you applying for? Just some questions but feel free to tell/ask anything you'd like! :)

Hello! Thanks for creating this thread. I was hoping to chat with others on the same path. I will finish my last pre-requisite in Dec. I take my TEAS 6 on this Friday! JTCC only requires 45th percentile so I called to get clarification and was told that as long as you score above 45 that's good, but of course the higher the better bc your TEAS is the primary factor in determining acceptance. I plan on applying for the traditional track. Have you taken the TEAS 6? If so, any recommendations?!
Hello and you are very welcome. Just wanted to get to know some of the people applying, give/receive advice, etc. :) I will be finishing up my pre-reqs this spring and applying to the program while I am in those classes. So how was the TEAS? I hope you did well, I wish I could've told you good luck but I wasn't able to respond quickly enough. I haven't taken the TEAS yet, I'm scheduled to take it at the end of November so that I have time in case I choose to repeat it. So I'm in the process of studying now, how did you go about studying vs what you saw on the exam?
The TEAS went well! I scored a 74. It's not the highest but only 45th percentile is required. I used the Mometric ATI TEAS Secrets book from Amazon, the ATI study manual and the mometrix youtube videos to review. I would definitely review the science portions the most, as well as the language usage.
That's awesome, CONGRATS on your score! I have also been using The Mometrix Secrets book and will probably get the ATI Manual once I make it through this one. And thanks for mentioning the science portion, that is where I have been directing most of my attention anyway as it seems like it's going to be the most challenging for me. Did you have a lot of A&P on yours like I have heard?
Yes!! I would say 90% was A&P
Yeah that's what I've read. Well, I can't wait until we get closer to applying and finding out whether or not we got in!

I also plan on applying to JTCC for the fall. Nice having a forum to discuss our progress on.
Hello Ms. Sharmane! Which track are you planning on applying for? And have you taken your TEAS yet?
Hey CNV92, I plan on applying to the Hybrid. I am taking my Teas on the 27th and Southside. I will definitely update with my scores.

I wonder if you have to have all the prereqs before applying. I only need math want to apply for fall.
You could have applied as long as you are currently enrolled in those pre-req classes. I am so nervous now.
