Jobs

Hi all,

I am still looking for a job as a new grad NP. I really want plastics or dermatology and live in the southeast. I have tried recruiters, job boards, everything it seems! Anyone have any leads? I have encountered most places that want 1-2 years of derm experience...well how the heck am I supposed to get that if no one will hire me as a new grad? I have offered one place a training salary of 40-50k per year even and still got nothing. I hate to go into ortho or some other specialty and really waste a year or more learning that when it is not what I really want in the long-term. There are some places hiring but I cannot move there. Any advice??

I am in the same situation as you. I recently graduated, and I have just started looking for positions in primary care. However, I see most employers want NP's with experience already. Very frustrating. Now I will prob have to settle for an acute care position for year or until I can find a position I want. However, I am unsure if my degree prepares me for such!

You will have to do whats best for you. I would check craigslist and all employment listing. The market is becoming saturated with NP/PA's that the perceived shortage is really non-existent. In addition, employers don't want to train providers in long orientation. They want employees who is going to bring in a lot of money quickly. I guess, like me, you will have to decide whether its worth moving to find what you want or take another job for experience.

I'm in the same boat. However, I've been using monster and indeed.com. What other search engines are out there for NPs or health care providers? I know the 2 i'm using are not really geared towards those in our field. Thanks!

I'm not an NP but see some jobs listed in the Charlotte area on craigslist.org as well as the Carolinas Healthcare website. Good luck!

I've had calls/e-mails from employers using AdvancedPracticeJobs.com and posting my resume on Careerbuilder. Good Luck with your job search!

Thanks all! I will check out the above sites. I have looked at craigslist but not the others. Plus, I believe I have a possible offer : )
