Itchy Casts

Does anyone have tricks to relieve itching casts?  I have tried the blow dryer (on cold setting) and tapping the cast.  I am hoping someone on here has found another way that I have not discovered yet.

When I was a kid we used a coat hanger or anything pointy that we could put down into it.

Fan or blow dryer on low usually helps.  Elevation and Ice pack to cast -helps decrease any swelling/itch sensation.  Also assess for yeast odor to  R/O infection.  Pediatrician would use Benadry/Atarax  as last resort--- my tips from Summer camp.

DO KNOCK OR TAP ON CAST WITH WOODEN SPOON OR HAND. Vibration inside the cast will ease itching.
