isolation question

I have had patients share rooms where one had c. diff, but then it pretty much ALWAYS turned into 2 patients w/c. diff!!! Kinda silly for those pt's to share toilets!!!!!

I've always read that patients can be roommates if they have the same thing (i.e. MRSA can only share with another MRSA patient).

But here's a question for you - if two patients have two different types of pneumonia, can they still share a room?

v- disseminated varilla zoster (chicken pox, herpes zoster, singles, small fox) add contact precaution gloves, and gown

pt. wear mask when leaving room

droplet precaution (private room and can have roomate) mask

e- epiglottits

a- adenoviros

r- rubella

p- pertussis

p- pneumonia

p- pharyngitis

p- parvovirus

m- mumps

m- meningitis ( add gown )

s- sepsis

standard (private room and can have roommates) gown and gloves

c-diff

respiratory syncytial virus (rsv)

mrsa

skin infection ( ["dipps" stand for diptheria, impetigo, pediculosis, sacbies, staphyloccus add mask)

transport w/ clean sheet fully cover

Contact precautions if the patient has diarrhea. Otherwise standard precautions with good hand washing techniques would be enough. But it is MY opinion! Not definitely sure.

hepatitis A - handwashing

hepatitis B - hepatitis B vaccine

both are STANDARD precaution..if incontinent or has diarrhea, contact

if a patient has bacterial meningitis, i know that we need to use DROPLET precaution. do we also need to include contact? if yes, please explain why..i'm confuse and im testing soon!!!

C-diff patients can be with other c-diff patients
