Yep you are in for the full ride here in the Keystone State. I've never heard of an early out. I've heard of plenty of the opposite but not that. Good Luck!!!

I completed a 3 year ISNAP RMA in late 2012. I was diagnosed with alcohol dependence. I self reported because I wanted help. I had no employment or legal issues whatsoever. I did not deal with the BON...only ISNAP. At the 2 year mark I petitioned for early release from the program due to wanting to make a job change and being unable to find another job due to being in ISNAP. I had absolutely no issues in the program and had glowing reports from my addictionologist, work site monitor, therapist, and AA sponsor. They were all onboard with my early release. I got a big fat NO. No reason given, just NO. I have heard of the rare participant getting early release, but by and large everyone has to complete their time.

Another question. The agreement states I can only work 40 per week. Do they check this (and how)? Is this a monthly thing that is checked or random? By the way I am in Indiana

It is quite ridiculous. I've already been offered a promotion...and I seemly cannot take it. I realize I made a mistake but the program is holding me back professionally. I was "diagnosed" as a "moderate" drinker.

I'm in Indiana, as well. You can have the 40hrs increased with the approval of your treatment team. I never tried to get it increased because I wasn't interested in working more than 40hrs/week. When I was in ISNAP, my worksite monitor had to write in the average number of hours worked per week on the form she completed quarterly.

Yeah your hours are monitored through your caseworker who get quarterly reports from your boss. Unless your boss is willing to simply lie they are gonna know. These programs are a damnable abomination of just about all that is right in the world but the only way out is to play the game by the rules until you are done. If they catch you messing up they will do what they do best over-punish and try to ruin your life

I signed my RMA with ISNAP in January of this year. I've had to go in front of the BON and I watched several nurses go before I did ( I was actually there 8 hours! grrr) I watched other nurses fib, bend the truth, try to make excuses....and they were all chewed up and spit out by the board. I'd rather chew off my arm than go in front of them again.

I recommend reading your RMA word by word and then following that to a T. It sucks, I know.

I am required to go to 12 NA or other support meetings a month. I loath NA but I did find some nurse support groups to attend so at least I can ask questions and get info about other ISNAP participant's and those count toward my 12 a month requirements.

I've only been doing this for 2 months, and it wasn't because of a DUI ( I was diverting pain meds) but feel free to contact me if you want.

I think I'm going to start looking for a now nursing job....

Hi, I'm new to the program and having a hard time finding employment. I also diverted meds and am doing everything they require except drug screen because I don't have 75 dollars to start account with affinity. I have to have drug screen before I can "look" for a job. I've been asking employers if they hire nurses like me. Some say it depends what if done and one told me check back in 6 months and we review it again. Hell, I'll be in homeless shelter, no transportation to look for job and you now what comes with losing everything. Please if you have any suggestion? let me know.....

where in Indiana are you? I've heard IU health is very monitoring friendly. I have 2 nurses in my nurse group that work at IU hospital downtown. Community rehab at Community North campus. And of course dialysis is usually monitoring friendly.
