Is this a typo?

We have simulation lab tomorrow and on the prep sheet it says for the patient, "DKDA." I have heard of NKDA (No known drug allergies) but haven't heard of this...It was on two different papers so I started to think maybe it wasn't a typo. Could it be "Documented known drug allergies?" Referring to the chart where they are recorded?

Thank you,

~J

No...it's under allergies, oops thought I said that the first time, lol. I'm thinking it's a typo at this point...

It stands for "don't know da allergy":clown: . J/K. You may be able to find it on www.acronymfinder.com. Hope that helps. Or it could be a typo. I've never seen that before.

Yes, I think it's probably a typo. I checked my copy of the 10th edition of Medical Abbreviations by Neil Davis and it is not listed there and this resource lists just about every medical abbreviation. I'm thinking it's probably a typo of DKA, diabetic ketoacidosis, or AKA, above the knee amputation. KDA is known drug allergies. Do any of those fit with the rest that is written?

Looks like another case of the left hand middle finger doing what the right hand middle finger was supposed to be doing. I'm sure it's NKDA.

Found out today what that one was: DKDA = Denies Known Drug Allergies, which puts it in a patient-statement perspective. Newer one being used that I hadn't heard of yet...

Wow, I hadn't heard of it either. Thanks for letting us know!!! And what a BEAUTIFUL puppy!!!
