Is there likely to ever be another John McCain?

When John McCain told that woman who was berating Obama's birthplace and his supposed religion, that she was wrong and that he was American and a good family man, it spoke volumes to me not only about John McCain, but about where did this woman get such erroneous information and was confident enough to appear on national television, in probably an event that was internationally televised and bring the GOP down, re credibility. She represented core republican voters and no one previously had even bothered to correct her and prevent her making a fool of herself. What environment cloistered her in such a way that she only received very specific information and how is it different from a cult that carefully doles out the information to suit its purpose? She could have been my Nana. It still is happening today!

Is the republicans ever going to get anyone decent like John McCain again?

I would like to believe that there are Republicans with those kinds of standards.  However, and I said this many times on the blue side political boards when they were active, I'm quite frustrated at their silence and thus collusion with some of the Republican nonsense.  Very few of them were willing to speak up and take on Trump.  This I'm sure stems from them not wanting to lose their votes.

Can you name a few that you might consider. You are right there has to be some decent ones.

Rep. Adam Kinzinger  of Illinois and Rep. Jaime Herrara Beutler of Washington state are two. Mitt Romney has occasional spoken out and Liz Cheney has not been cowed.

The Trump party won't tolerate a powerful politician who behaves independently within the party...that seems clear.  Members must stay in lock step with Trump or suffer the wrath of the petty and vindictive cult leader.
