Is it just me???

I think that I might have Ebola or Dengue Fever from my mosquito bites. And yesterday when I used a public restroom all I could think about were little E. coli marching around the toilet seat, just waiting for me to succumb to nature's urgings. Not to mention when I grabbed the grocery cart all the little S. aureus that began running up my fingers searching for access. And don't get me started as I think about pinworms and parasites that might already be burrowing in my body. Is it just me, or is my world suddenly a lot more dangerous than it used to be.....before I started studying microbiology and diseases.

    Nope! Many a micro student become a germ-o-phobiac. Just wash your hands frequently (but don't use anti-bacterial soap because it just encourages resistance) and encourage others to do the same.

    I briefly had your problem. Then I realized that I have been expised to worse and usually my body took care of it. Dont let micro transform you into a germ nut. Just remember that in important situations, like any invasive procedures you perform related to nursing.

    Wait till you get to med-surg. Each time I study a new disease I am sure I have all the symptoms. I guess it's all part of the Nursing School experience.

    Micro will either make you paranoid or it will make you realize there are bugs everywhere and you've made it this long with them and they didn't become more dangerous or prevelant over night. For me the latter happened.

    I am not sure when I will eat yogurt again, but it is way better than the movie I watched back in junior high about all the things that live in your house, bed, etc. I will take the bacteria any day!

    Haha, no it's definitely not just you. You just gotta realize that being exposed to all those microorganisms all the time for your whole life has built up your immune system. You'll be fine with e. coli on the toilet seat as long as you don't lick the seat. ;)
