I have an interview friday and I have my outfit all planned out.
I'm wearing black pants, a red top with a single ruffle down the middle (this top is made out of that slinky stretchy material so the ruffle isn't fluffy. It lies flat against the top. I like it because it helps hide my tummy) , black flats, trouser socks, and a black blazer.
I just tried on everything today and maybe it's because the interview is so close and I'm worrying about this, but I'm starting to think my blazer might be a touch too small.
I'm by no means a skinny girl. I'm 5'6 with an apple shaped body; meaning I carry all my weight in my tummy area. In fact, it can be extremely difficult to find pants that fit in the waist that aren't baggy in the thighs and legs.
My blazer hits right at my hips. The shoulders and chest fit fine in my opinion. If there was a button at my bust, it would button without a problem. The single button that is between my belly button and my bust COULD button but it pulls a little bit when I'm standing. I think I look fine when I'm standing up.
However, when I sit down with the blazer buttoned, it pulls quite a bit. One of the MANY benefits of being apple shaped is that shirts can look fine when you're standing, but pull or look too small when you sit. Lucky me.
I was planning on leaving the blazer opened anyway, so do you guys think it'll be okay?
If I get a larger blazer, I would probably have to go up 1 (maybe 2 sizes) for it to button at the tummy area comfortably when sitting. Then the shoulders, bust, and sleeves would be too long. Even then, the blazer would be entirely too big when I'm standing up anyway.
Not only is this too short notice to buy a new blazer and have it tailored, I also do not have a ton of money to actually get it tailored.
Thanks for reading!
