Is there anyone out there who...

Hasn't been in high school for 20+ years, does not have to take any prerequisite classes to get into LPN school but must pass the TEAS V exam?

Just needing to know if there's anyone else who is in the same situation I am out there. If so, what did you do to prepare for the TEAS V exam? Did you only study from the study guide? Did you take any refresher courses?

I have the study guide and so far have reviewed reading, english and am currently reviewing the Math. And I'm feeling really rusty in the Math and am trying not to psyche myself out of this.

Hi! I had been out of school for almost 18 yrs. when I decided to go back to school. I felt I had to take some classes before going for the TEAS exam; as I was horrible in math, and never really learned to much biology. Also, my CC only allows the TEAS to be taken twice...ever by a single student in order to get on the waiting list for ADN--so I really did not want to waste any chances. I believe the TEAS is the same for ADN as LPN (it is at my CC). Anyways, in my circumstance I know that I would not have passed the math or bio sections if I had not taken the classes that I did. About 75% of the bio questions I got on my exam, I would not have had a clue about if I didn't take the bio 101 with lab that I finished the semester before my exam. Also, the math section was a little hard for me, and I took three semesters of math (ending with college algebra) also prior to the exam--which no doubt saved me (I did pass, although I ran out of time, so a few at the end were left unanswered). I do not feel as though the english classes I took prior to the exam were really helpful, but english is my best subject, and I aced that area.

Do some searches online (if you have not already done so) for TEAS quizes and sample questions and see how that goes. Or betteer yet go to your local Barns & Noble or Borders book store and look at the sample exams in the books to see what your weak areas are. I hope any of this helps you. Good luck to you!:)

Congratulations on passing and thanks so much for your post! This site is great with all of the TEAS info on it and study tips. I guess I was more looking for someone who was in the same situation I am now so after reading your post, I was glad to know I wasn't completely alone. Here too we are only given two times to pass the test.

Where did you take your classes?

Yes, I was just like you, but did not have to take the TEAS. Why are you not taking your pre-req's first? I started back on all my pre-req's and retook Algebra and basic Chem.

There are no pre-reqs for this LPN program.

I am going to school at Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester, Ma. I am currently finishing up an associates degree in computer systems engineering technology, and I am on the waiting list for Nurse Education in 2012. I will finish my nurse pre-reqs after I graduate.

I just wanted to post to let anyone whos in quinsigs nursing program know that at Salvation Army in Fitchburg there are the nusing uniforms you have to wear 5$ for the top and $4 for the bottoms. I know how expensive they are new and These look brand new no stains at all!!!

I'm interested in QCC's program as well. I applied almost 6 weeks ago and haven't heard anything back - I called the admissions office only to have them tell me I would be in the program for Fall 2012 (but it seems hypothetical the way they talk). How and when do you know you're in the program - for a given semester - with certitude?
