Does anyone know how graduates from Thomas Edison State College (TESC) are treated by potential employers when applying for RN jobs, esp in CT? I'm doing my RN-to-BSN through their online program, and I wonder how hospitals in this area (CT/MA/RI) look at TESC (that is, if they've ever even heard of it).

How are some of you only having to take 5 or 6 courses at TESC at then graduating with a BSN? It looks like there are 8 nursing classes required beyond the routine RN instruction to get the BSN. Did you take these nursing classes (e.g, Health Assessment) some place else and then have them transfer?

Hey guys! I'm having a little problem. I'm trying to get a new job as a nursing tech at a local hospital and I'm not sure whether I should include nursing school on my resume. It's a full-time job (32 hours per week) in a float pool and I'm not sure they'd want to deal with a CNA who has to juggle work and school. So, is it worth mentioning? Thanks!

Is it even possible to work as an RN for a staffing/nursing agency as a new grad RN? Whereas most seem to shun the idea, I would LOVE to be an agency nurse. I doubt I'll find work otherwise in the Boston/Eastern Mass area, when I graduate in '13. It seems like an ideal situation for my personality type, I don't really need benefits at the moment, and I've read the pay is excellent.

I'm interested in QCC's program as well. I applied almost 6 weeks ago and haven't heard anything back - I called the admissions office only to have them tell me I would be in the program for Fall 2012 (but it seems hypothetical the way they talk). How and when do you know you're in the program - for a given semester - with certitude?

Hi. I'm in the process of applying to GCC as well. Did you get a B+ in both A&P I. & II. or just one?

Thanks for the info. It looks like I have 3.2 or 3.3 science GPA (the advising folks at GCC told me they only look at science GPA) in A&P I., A&P II., and Micro; I've finished all the other pre/coreqs. I'm going to retake A&P I. this fall, since I got a B the first time; I'm not sure if this would hurt or help, since I'm not sure if GCC has a first come first serve sort of admissions. But, since you say you had a 3.6 GPA and didn't get in it might be hopeless.

Hi there. I'm applying to the ASN program at GCC for 2011. For those that were accepted (and those that were not) to GCC, what was your prereq GPA, previous degrees, etc.? I'm trying to see what my chances are. Thanks guys!

Nope, all the programs I'm applying to are based on your prereq GPA (unfortunately). I've heard that 3.6, 3.7+ are the average for people applying - I'm not sure if this is true though. I wonder if the GPAs of those accepted to 4-year programs are higher or lower than ADN programs. Hrm...

My science GPA is around a 3.45, and my other, non-science prereqs are around a 3.5 (I would have a 3.6 if you didn't include the Cs and Ds I got in some of the courses years ago - however, the programs I'm applying to require a C+ in the prereqs and won't look at a grade lower than that or use it in their GPA calculation). Is a 3.45 GPA something to be concerned about? Also, I received a B in A&P I. Do you think I should retake the class and apply later than sooner (in December rather than in September)? Thanks!
