3 Interviews and No Offers!!!!!!!

Greetings everyone,

I will be graduating nursing school in May and I am very excited....exhaused but excited:yeah::yeah:!!! But I have a serious problem. I went to a new grad career fair beginning of this month, and I got lucky. I was called by 3 different nurse managers for interviews.

The first interview in med-surg went very well, I got a tour of the floor and she said that she will have to get more information on their budget and she will contact me in about a month. The second interview on orthopedics went very well, at the end of the interview she said that she was very impressed and I was very professional. The last interview on telemetry...(the position I REALLY want), she said that I passed the first screening. She also said I was the definately the type of person she was looking for and she told other nurses in front of me that I will be back for a second interview....and the interview ended in a "high-five" literally.

But guess what NO CALLS. It has been a week tomorrow for ortho and almost a week for telemetry. I even sent 2 hand written thank you cards to the med/surg and ortho managers and I sent a thank you e-mail to the telemetry manager. I don't know what is going on!!! :banghead::banghead:. Someone please help me....my confidence level has bottomed out!!!!:cry:

i totally know how you feel. I've been having this experience too! Just wait it out....and apply else where...

After another week to week and a half, do follow up. And meanwhile, continue to look. The fact that the interviews went well is in your favor. Good luck in landing the right job for you.

My paperwork and phone number got lost in the shuffle of HR paperwork, so i called and they hired me. Oh and it took the HR person a while to get back to me because of a death in the family. Sometimes they just need a little nudge to focus on YOU!

Did you call the nurse recruiter who arranged the interview? HR are the ones who send out the letters of hire etc. Give the recruiter or Human Resources a call to see what is your status?

Due to the current economic condition of our country, many hospitals are tightening up even moreso...and continuing with hiring freezes. You might be perfect for those positions...but a combination of the economy, greedy corporates, etc. might have put this on hold. Keep your head up and make sure to stay on good terms with them because when they are able to hire again, you will be first in line.

i'm really bummed about the job situation new grads are having with this freakin' economy. all through nursing school, i thought i'd have zero problems getting a job because of the 'nursing shortage'. yeah right..that's down the tubes. i graduate in may with my bsn and have applied to numerous hospitals with only hearing back from 2. i've had one interview with one hospital..that was about 3 weeks ago. to my knowledge they are not going to be hiring any new grads now. i have an interview in 2 weeks with another hospital, i'm hoping it goes well! this really sucks. i'm a good student with a 3.56 gpa, i'll be graduating with my bsn, and i'm a nursing honor society member in my school's sigma theta tau chapter. and i've been working as a nurse's aide per diem for almost 2 years at a small community hospital. still, none of those factors are helping me :crying2:

so i'm in the same boat as you. i only have had one interview though so far. and i was the same as you..acted and dressed professional, etc. i arrived 20 minutes early and traveled through a bad winter snowstorm that hit PA a few weeks back..all for nothing!

i guess we should just keep our heads up and take it one day at a time..even though i'm kind of sick of hearing people tell me that sometimes!
