Interview questions

Hello all...

I've applied for night shift supervisor for ICU, under the recommendation of my current supervisor.

I am now faced with the dreaded interviews of the "panel" of nurses I will be supervising.

There are many "strong" personalities, and I get along well with most. But there certainly is the one or two that will attempt to intimidate me during this process.

Any suggestions for the interview from those that have been there? Believe it or not, I am a little nervous.

Thanks all.

I was just part of a staff panel that interviewed prospective managers...I guess the best thing is to come across as confident and sure of your answers, so have answers prepared for all the standard questions that will be asked and reheorifice saying them out loud. The ones that I heard asked over and over were...

What are your strengths?

What are your weaknesses?

How do you handle conflict?

What sets you apart from the other applicants?

What is your leadership style?

Define how you see your role in this new position.

What changes would you like to see made in the dept?

What are your short term and long term goals for this new role?

And of course, questions about your plans/ideas for current problems in the unit (whether that be staffing, MD/nurse relations, policy issues, whatever the staff seems to always have concerns about)

Thanks for the input. I'm researching some intelligent answers as we speak! lol
