Interview Attire

I have been nicer dressed than the interviewer twice now and made me a bit uncomfortable, like I was trying to hard.

exactly, i've worked in a place where applicants have come in wearing their very best attire, and the office staff made jokes about it.....and wondered if the person was applying for a nursing job or a fashion executive position (sad but true).

I never forgot that.....and any time I ever had to go for an interview, i've worn something simple......khacki's or light colored dockers, and a low key blouse with light brown casual/dress shoes. basically just wear something that is practical yet professional.

on the other end of the spectrum are those that come in wearing jeans or clothes that look like they were slept in the night before.

do not carry a bottle of water!

oh gawsh.....i've done that before....dont know what i was thinking of...i totally forgot i had it ...walked right in and took a couple sips out of it before it dawned on me.......luckily it didnt affect me and i was hired....but im pretty sure they had to think that was a little silly of me to do

I always wear a suit jacket with pants the same color. They look like they came together, but suits that come together never fit me right. Find something you are comfortable in, that is classic, and go with it. And if you are going for a government job, wear a small flag pin. Always try to be memorable, just not too memorable :)

I've always worn a suit to every interview and have gotten a job offer for each. Some of my compatriots tell me that business casual is fine, but they seem to take longer to land jobs, so I take their advice with a grain of salt.

I did get the job offer on the spot for this last job---Maybe it was the suit, could have been my dazzling personality or perhaps desperation to fill a spot with a warm-bodied RN!!
