Congratulations on your interview!!! Good Luck!!!

oh, good luck with this one. i would request that the manager remain in the room while this occurs, that way the "questions" are not illegal, confrontational, or inappropriate. They do this at my facility in some units as well. I think the point is to see how the staff responds to you, to see if they can see you working on their unit. Frankly, i don't get it. Many individuals at that level simply do not understand how to behave on that side of the interview.

One of my top 10 career worst moments was the interview I had for a management position with some of the individuals who would be my subordinates. They were vicious.

Sorry, my point is not to discourage you. Just to tell you to be prepared and forewarned. They may ask things that are completely unexpected. Emphasize being a team player, etc... Good Luck.

I was interviewed by one of the staff nurses and she asked me some pretty specific questions. Like what kind of vaccines did you give during nursing school. My mind went blank! I was also getting over the flu so I blame it on that ;). Interviewing with the staff can be good for you because they often know how the unit really works. You often have the chance to ask quite a few questions. Good luck on your interview!
