Internships

Please let me know what hospitals are in Dallas area and what hospitals offer Internships. I am trying so hard to get into one of those Internships.I am trying to move from horrible job market in NJ. :uhoh3:I can tell Texas nursing opportunities are getting fewer and fewer these days. Thanks a lot in advance guys.

The internships in the Dallas-Fort Worth area start in June. I am not certain which hospitals are doing internships, but be aware that the local nursing job market is slowly becoming saturated due to many other out-of-state nurses flocking here for jobs. In addition, there are 20+ nursing programs in the area that continue to churn out masses of new grads every few months.

Here are some hospitals in and around Dallas and Denton County:

1. Methodist Dallas

2. Methodist Charlton

3. Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas

4. Baylor Irving

5. Baylor University Medical Center

6. Parkland

7. Presbyterian Hospital of Allen

8. Trinity Medical Center

9. Childrens Medical Center of Dallas

10. Medical City Dallas

11. Renaissance Hospital of Dallas

12. St. Paul

13. Zale Lipshy

14. Vibra Specialty Hospital

15. North Texas Hospital

16. Denton Regional

17. Presbyterian Hospital of Denton

18. Centennial Medical Center

19. Baylor Frisco

20. Baylor Garland

21. Las Colinas Medical Center

22. Baylor Plano

23. Lake Pointe Medical Center

The major hospitals in the Fort Worth area, including the suburban facilities, include:

1. Harris Methodist (downtown campus)

2. Harris Methodist (Southwest campus)

3. Baylor All Saints (downtown campus)

4. Baylor All Saints (Southwest campus)

5. John Peter Smith

6. Plaza Medical Center

7. Kindred

8. Huguley Memorial

9. Cooks Childrens

10. North Hills Hospital

11. Arlington Memorial

12. Baylor Grapevine

13. Harris Methodist Southlake

14. Medical Center of Arlington

15. USMD Hospital at Arlington

16. USMD Hospital at Fort Worth

commuter gave you a good list..i am also looking for a internship but in the fort worth area...i do know that most of the internships start in june, sept and jan....they will begin taking apps in the next few months in the area.....there are also some that have a alternate start date like huguley hospital and they are accepting now...i read a article this morning that was in the paper describing how the economy is effecting nurses and how hospitals in the dfw area are accepting less and less applicants for internships.....good luck to you.....

I already applied at Baylor last Oct but wouldn't get in, May be this time I will have better luck. It's a extremely scary situation, when you spent a lot of time ,effort and money for nursing school and you couldn't get a job anywhere. Good luck to youtxspadequeenRN . Thanks a lot Commuter, your list is impressive.

Methodist offers internships in June and December. Good luck!

Presbyterian of Allen does not do internships or take new grads. They said it takes about $20K to do an internship and they are too small to support it. Presby Plano and Presby Dallas are the only ones in the North Dallas area that do for the THR facilities.

If you would be okay with a smaller town, Scott and White in Temple Texas has a really good internship program. Paid, in critical care, ER, OR areas. Its a 70 bed level 1 trauma and its only an hour north of Austin so you could live in a bigger town and commute. I know my intern class had a bunch from Illinois, and Northeast for the same reason. Just a thought. Their next group starts in June I believe as well.
