So this is something all Nurses get?

So this is something all Nurses get?

Not necessarily -- there are a number of older threads here that discuss the pros and cons. There are quite a few nurses who will make the argument that it's not necessary.

I, personally, am one of those who would never consider working a day without my own coverage, but each individual can make her/his own decision.

It is not required for all nurses. However, you'll be glad you have it if you are ever the target of a lawsuit by a patient or the family members of a dead patient. The insurance will pay for your legal fees up to $10,000. In addition, the insurance will pay for an attorney to defend you against your board of nursing if your license is in jeopardy.

Some nurses mistakenly think that their workplace will cover them if a lawsuit arises, but the workplace is out to cover their own interests. Nurses need to cover our own interests with insurance.

I wouldn't be without liability coverage. Mine is through National Service Organization. $98 a year well spent.
