Injection question

Hi, 

I have been searching for an answer to this question and surprisingly cannot locate a definitive answer. Intramuscular injections. What is the volume limit for an IM gluteal injection? If someone could also site a source that would be great.

    3-5 ml can be injected in ventrogluteal area in adult using 1 1/2 to 3 inch needle.
