Immunizations

Published

Okay, real talk. I have no idea where my immunization card is, so I'm guessing I have a lot of vaccine titer tests in my future. Is this something I can stroll into a lab and request all willy-nilly or do I need a physician to get the ball rolling on it? Getting an appointment with my PCP is particularly challenging these days, so I'm just trying to get an idea of what I should do/need to do.

Thanks!

Call your local lab testing facility and ask. Best place to get accurate information about their policies.

Google you states vaccine records. They are all available through your state (since 1994 all that information has been electronically been entered into a database) and they will mail you your vac records. I had to call Jackson to get mine, because let's face it. I don't have a 121 form lying around at any given time on my 26 year old self.

On another note: When you get your physical done tell you doc you need your tieters done, and he will order them up. Also check your local health department to get a tb vaccine and any ones you may need for far cheaper.

You doctors office should have access to the database for vaccines. It's called ImmTrac here in Texas, not sure if it's the same in other states. Call and ask them to look you up and order any titers that you don't have proof of vaccination for. We do it a lot for our patients (3 large nursing programs and a few EMT courses in the area) we get a lot of these requests. It takes me less than 5 minutes to look up a patient, print the record, and request appropriate titers from the provider.
