Im Moving

well i just screamed at the top of my lungs and wanted everyone to know. i have officially gotten everything in place for my relocation to houston (from canada) and i will be heading down there in ten days ..... might i add 10 days isn't that long for someone that still has to work 4 12 hr shifts:rotfl: :bluecry1:

sooooo now i have to finish packing get a uhaul truck stuff it to the max and start the long drive down to houston.... with 2 kids and a wigged out cat :paw: ..... then i can enjoy air conditioning, lots of traffic, lots of good food, and of course my new home at methodist :)

sorry i know this post probably doesn't make sense but i'm happy scared nervous and well everything in between and i just had to share it with anyone that would listen lol

here's hoping that the boarder guard likes all my documentation and will allow me in to the us and let me on my marry drive :)

i will miss the cold weather for christmas, not having snow and hot chocolate i am sure will through me for a loop .... ok that and my kids putting that frosty type spray on the windows to make the windows look icy and the inside all warm and toasty :)
the inside of your home will be warm and toasty during houston winters. it is common to have 70-degree weather during december.

60 degrees outside is cold enough to have people complaining about how cold it is over here. welcome to houston!!! been here all my life and have seen maybe 1?2? inches combined snowfall over 20 years! last christmas it started to "snow" (was it really snow??) on the day before christmas when everyone was out shopping. people actually abandoned their stuff inside the stores, lost their place in line and just walked outside to look at the white dandruff type stuff falling down. i will admit, i was one that did so! pm me for cool stuff to do down here. ;-)

Congradulations on your upcoming move to Houston. I eventually would like to move there when I finish nursing school also. ???You have newbie down for years experience. Are you a new grad? If so, when you start your orientation? Would love to know any info on your job interview, years experience. Good luck on your trip down.

yes i am a newer grad. i have about 5 months of experience as being a grad nurse up here in canada on a very busy adult acute medicine unit. i'm not sure how the whole finishing school and new grad thing works down in the states but up here before we end school we have to do 3 months of full time rn work where we have a preceptor and eventually take over there entire job/duties. once this is done we have to apply and write our national rn exam (asap) and we are allowed to work as a grad nurse (we work all on our own) until we find out if we passed or failed :uhoh3: then get the lovely rn title :)

my job interview was good and rather quick i was surprised at how quick it went. i will be on an orientation and put back to having a preceptor of sorts when i start working down there. i have never used computer charting and a lot of the med names are very very different.

thanks for the well wishes on my drive down ..... i'm thinking that ill need it :lol2:

Welcome to Texas. As other posters have already mentioned, I wouldn't live anywhere else either. Nothing beats Christmas shopping in shorts and flipflops.
