I'm I expecting to much?

I have 35 yrs as a RN, ICU, ER, med-surg and 8 yrs correctional nursing

certifed in Med-Surg, Geriatrics and CCHP. Making

staffing is as follows, Nurse 7a to 3p, other nurse 11am to 1130Pm, No clerks, no med tech, no NAs no shift diff, earning about 1 and 1/2hr PTO every 2 weeks. I think we are underpaid and over worked but thats just my opinion. I took a paycut because I enjoy correctional nursing, but I am begining to second guess my move. This is not a personal attack. I just don't know many other nurses in this field around these parts.

    Where are you located? Seems very underpaid to me, but I suppose it would depend on where you are located.

    We are way underpaid and overworked. They keep sending us head trauma pts. We now have 3 and that is total care pts. I also have 12 other pts. to attend to and they see no problem with this but I am not giving good pt. care when you give me that many to care for. Most nights there is not a tech we do get one three out of seven nights of the week which leads to most of your shifts where you work on your own. Never thought I would burn out after a yr. so I just gave notice.
